Neighbourhood Renewal team Neighbourhood Renewal Fundask@kirkleespartnership.orgNeighbourhood Renewal is about reversing the spiral of decline in our most disadvantaged communities. It involves working from the grassroots to deliver safer communities, decent housing, good education, better health, efficient transport, economic prosperity and jobs, as well as fostering a new sense of community among residents. Allied to this is the Government's agenda of improving public services in deprived areas. This aims to ensure fairer distribution of resources to tackle deprivation, and to develop services that work with, and for, the communities they serve. A Neighbourhood Renewal Strategy for Kirklees was published in June 2003. This document sets out the priorities and actions for delivery of the Neighbourhood Renewal programme in Kirklees. The Kirklees Partnership Neighbourhood Renewal Team are responsible for working with services and communities to commission initiatives which tackle local priorities. Two sources of funding are available for this: People's Purse and Main Fund. People's Purse is an easily accessible and flexible small grant fund, designed to support small projects identified by community and voluntary groups. The Main Fund supports the bulk of the Neighbourhood Renewal programme by resourcing effective and innovative projects, developed in conjunction with mainstream service providers. |
