About the Partnership Academy programme:

People who show a real commitment and potential to become part of the Partnership Academy can expect a very different approach to personal development. Participants will:

  • Work together in a 2 day residential development centre
  • Receive a personal development plan
  • Have access to a tutor / tutor group and coaching team
  • Receive high level observational feedback about leadership and partnership styles
  • Experience partnership based learning opportunities away from their normal area of experience or sector
  • Have access to leadership and motivational speakers
  • Participate in action learning sets
  • Undertake theoretical and participative learning
  • Attend seminars, workshops and master classes
  • Use self-awareness and analysis exercises to allow participants to better understand their personal impact and leadership skills and those of others
  • Sharpen capabilities around; intelligent commissioning, performance management, impact and outcome monitoring, public and third sector service delivery
  • Develop an understanding of future policy and operational issues; localities working and devolution, place-shaping, personalised budgets

Stage 0ne

  • Delivery through induction programme and 2 day residential
  • Personal leadership skills
  • Self assessment and needs analysis
  • Strategic / shared competencies – including commissioning framework (options for additional development)

Stage two

Runs to the end of the programme

Examples of typical modules include:

  • Political and community governance
  • Place-shaping and localities – future direction and agenda
  • Horizon scanning and partnership working–
  • Personalised budgets – impact assessment
  • Industrial Relations 
  • Demonstrating emotional intelligence
  • Coaching for excellence,
  • Media skills
  • Impact monitoring and high level performance management
  • Midway Review
  • 18 month Individual Programme Review and revisit 360

N.B.  Some modules will be compulsory – others will be optional depending on your service specialism or outcome of self-assessment

Stage three

Project and work based activities

  • Learning logs supported by master classes, workshops, coaching with progress  reviews
  • Observations of senior management decision making scenarios across sectors
  • Projects including Civic Partnership case studies
  • Being a coach
  • Public sector and VCS challenge
  • Twilight action learning sessions

Please note:  The Partnership Academy is exploring potential collaborative working with one or more nationally respected academic bodies.  This would result in them delivering key elements of stage two of the curriculum, with the possibility of participants acquiring certified or endorsed learning at the end of the 15 month programme.
